Regional Highlights

Mammoth Cave 1.jpg

This brochure suggests that Bosley or a family member visted Mammoth Cave before 1941, when it was finally established as a National Park. The brochure highlights the history and features of the cave and the surrounding area, and includes photos of the cave and entrances as they were during the 1920's or 1930's. After the area was declared a National Park, the boundaries changed and more passages have been found within the cave system.

Have you ever been to Mammoth Cave before? What do you think has changed there since Bosley and his family visited the park?

If you haven't been to Mammoth Cave, what National Park or historic site have you visited in the past. What things do you think would have been different for a person visiting the site 80 years ago? Did the site even exist as a park or historic site then?

McLean County Fair Brochure 1.jpg

This memo book came from the McLean County Fair in Livermore, Kentucky. Inside are blank note pages, as paper was the only way people could write reminders, get receipts, etc. Each page in this memo book has an advertisement at the top from a local business that paid to sponsor the creation of the memo book for the fair. The Bosley Trunk contains about four memo books, most of which are blank. Any books that do have information are related to business and banking matters for the Bosley family.

McLean County is located on the southern border of Daviess County, where Bosley lived in Owensboro. Since he was a farmer, it would not be unusual for him to attend several nearby county fairs.
